Adding gravel to a road may be required when water pools in the middle of the road causing mini lakes caused by:
- The road is lower than the sides of the road preventing the road from draining properly. In this instance the road surface would need to be raised a few inches to establish a crown for proper water drainage to the sides of the road. Depending of the severity of the problem a base of large rubble or sand may be used before topping of with class 5 gravel for a smooth surface.
- When there are boulders that are sticking up thru or just below the road surface that are too large to remove. In this case it’s just easier to raise the road over this spot with new gravel.
